Ebenezer Church (Reformed Baptist) used to be called Shalom (Dover) Reformed Baptist Church. It was established in May 1999, being a Church-Planting effort of Shalom Church Singapore. The first 13 members of Shalom (Dover) were all from Shalom Church Singapore. We changed our name to Ebenezer Church on 1 Jan 2007, acknowledging that God has led us thus far in our existence as a Church. (You can find out about why we chose this name from a sermon preached on 30 July 2006.) Ebenezer Church is an independent Church in decision making and Church government. We uphold the 1689 Baptist Confession of Faith and are “Calvinistic” in our understanding and practice of the doctrines pertaining to God and salvation. We hold baptistic views concerning baptism and Church government. To understand a little more about what it means to be a Reformed Baptist, please check out this web site: http://www.vor.org/rbdisk/ We do not have our own Church building that we operate from. Instead we use the rented premises of ACS (Independent) School to conduct our weekly Sunday worship and bible studies. We currently have about 60-80 people meeting regularly on Sunday.
Statement of Faith That the Holy Scriptures, that is all the books of the Old and New Testament, were uniquely inspired, and as originally given, were entirely free from error, that they are the supreme authority in faith and life. That there is one God, holy, eternal and immutable, subsisting in three persons, the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit. That as a consequence of the Fall, man has inherited a corrupt and depraved nature, and that the regeneration work of the Holy Spirit alone enables men to exercise saving faith in Jesus Christ. Notwithstanding, those who remain impenitent are fully responsible for their wilful continuance in sin and disbelief. That Jesus Christ was begotten of the Virgin Mary, and is true God and true man inseparably joined in one person forever. That the substitutionary death and resurrection of the Lord Jesus Christ is the only way of salvation from sin through faith. That, the Holy Spirit is the agent of regeneration, whereby men are brought to repentance and faith in the Lord Jesus Christ and that He indwells the believer, enabling him to live a godly life. That those whom God has justified in the beloved, and sanctified by His Spirit, will never totally nor finally fall away from the state of grace, but shall certainly persevere to the end.
That the Lord Jesus Christ will return in power and glory to gather His elect, and that there will be a resurrection and final judgement of all men issuing in eternal blessedness for believers, and eternal punishment for the unregenerate. |
